Sydney Otis has focused her work on how movement through space impacts community well-being, bringing a transdisciplinary approach to problem-solving that has been developed through experience in nonprofit and government spaces. Prior to joining the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, Sydney worked at the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Volpe Center, where she conducted project evaluations and analyses, translated technical data into actionable strategies, and led consensus-building work. She has also designed and implemented sustainable transportation programs and organizational strategic plans.
Sydney holds a Master of Public Health with a concentration in urban design and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Washington University in St. Louis. Sydney is an engaged member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, and enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, and exercising her curiosity through the exploration of new hobbies.
